One of the most common questions we get at Pro Tint is, "How dark should I go?" Looking at tint samples on a display board is helpful, but nothing compares to seeing the different shades installed on actual vehicles.
In this video, we take a look at two recently completed window tint installations parked side by side. The first vehicle is a 2026 Honda Civic with 35% window tint on the front doors and 15% window tint on the rear half of the vehicle. The second vehicle is a 2026 Mercedes-Benz E350 with 15% window tint on the front doors and 5% limo tint on the rear half.
By comparing these two vehicles, you can get a much better idea of how different window tint shades look in real-world conditions. You'll see how much visibility each shade offers from the outside, how the appearance changes as the film gets darker, and why certain tint combinations are so popular among our customers.
The Honda Civic setup is one of our personal favorites. The 35% film on the front doors provides a clean, classy appearance while still allowing a reasonable amount of visibility. Combined with 15% film on the rear windows, it creates a look that is very similar to many factory-tinted SUVs and trucks.
The Mercedes E350 demonstrates a much darker appearance. With 15% film on the front doors and 5% limo tint on the rear windows, this combination offers significantly more privacy and a bold, aggressive look. If you're looking for maximum privacy, this is one of the most popular options we install.
It's also important to remember that darker film isn't required to receive the benefits of window tint. Modern ceramic window films can provide excellent infrared heat rejection, UV protection, and overall comfort even in very light shades. In fact, we offer nearly clear films that provide 99% UV protection and excellent heat rejection while maintaining a factory appearance.
